Chesterfield Aquatic Center Plans Four Special Event Days in Its Final Summer

The Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center will close permanently after this summer, but not before hosting four special event days with discounted or free admission for families and first responders.

The lineup, posted on the city's website:

  • June 15 (Father's Day): Dads get free entry with a paid child's admission.
  • July 4 (Star Spangled Swim): $2 off admission all day.
  • July 25 (Holiday Celebration in July): Additional event details have not been posted.
  • August 16 (First Responders Appreciation Day): First responders who show an ID get free entry with a paid admission.

The 30-year-old facility at 16365 Lydia Hill Dr. has been dealing with water leaks, concrete cracks, corroded piping, and deteriorating deck surfaces, according to a 2023 feasibility study. A complete renovation would cost an estimated $16 to $17 million.

The city held open houses in March to share design concepts for a replacement facility. More than 80 percent of attendees supported building a new pool, according to West Newsmagazine. Parks, Recreation and Arts Director Wayne Dunker said the open houses drew "a good turnout and very positive comments about the pool concept designs and replacing the current pool."

A public survey on the preliminary site plan is open at chesterfieldpool.com/survey. No closing date for the survey or ballot date for the replacement project has been announced.

Families with young children can also look into Tot Time, held Fridays from June 5 through August 7, 9:30–11:15 a.m., for ages 0–5, according to the community events calendar. Weekly themes range from Aquatic Safety to Pirates to Safari. Season passes cannot be used for Tot Time entry.
