Chesterfield's July 4th Celebration Goes Big for America's 250th: B-25 Flyover, Fireworks at CVAC
Chesterfield is expanding its Independence Day celebration this year, adding a B-25 bomber flyover to the fireworks, live music, and family activities at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex as part of America's 250th anniversary.
The free celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at CVAC, 17925 North Outer 40 Road. The flyover is scheduled during a live music intermission, according to Parks Committee meeting minutes approved in May.
For early risers, the eighth annual Stars and Stripes 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. that morning at the same location, with a Kids Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. The flat course runs along the Levee Trail. Registration is $25 through May 31, rising to $35 through July 3 and $45 on race day. The Kids Fun Run is $15. Register by June 16 to guarantee a shirt.
Packet pickup is available July 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods, 64 THF Blvd., and race morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at CVAC.
Last year's celebration drew about 8,000 people. Parks Director Wayne Dunker signaled the bigger plans in July 2025: "We are already looking forward to next year's festivities, which will be extra special, as we celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary!"
The July 4th event is one piece of Chesterfield's yearlong America 250 programming. Other events include an "Art of America: Stars, Stripes & Stories" exhibit at City Hall running through September, with an artist reception July 22 featuring remarks from former Mayor John Nations. Volunteers install Honor Flags in Central Park on June 11. On August 14, a Toby Keith tribute band and patriotic drone show close out the summer series at the Chesterfield Amphitheater.
The city has not yet announced the live band for the July 4th main stage or finalized parking and shuttle plans for CVAC.
