Marquette Boys Tennis Enters Districts Unbeaten at 18-0
Marquette's boys tennis team will carry a perfect 18-0 record into the Class 3 District 2 Tournament on May 5 at Marquette High School.
The Mustangs weren't just winning. They were rolling, averaging 6.7 points per match while allowing fewer than one, according to MSHSAA records.
Their toughest conference test was supposed to come April 27 against Parkway West, which entered the match 6-1 on the season. Severe weather scrapped it. The Rockwood School District dismissed all schools two hours early that Monday after the National Weather Service issued a flood watch for St. Louis, and tornado sirens sounded near Marquette around 12:30 p.m. All after-school activities were canceled.
Marquette finished the regular season unbeaten. Districts begin at 4 p.m. May 5 at 2351 Clarkson Rd in Chesterfield. Lafayette girls soccer (4-1-4) visits Rockwood Summit (10-4) tonight at 6 p.m. in Fenton.
