A total of 182 Parkway School District juniors and seniors proved they can read, write, and communicate in a second language at a professional level during the 2025-26 school year, earning the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy in 26 different languages.

The credential appears on each student's diploma and transcript. At Missouri State University, the Seal can translate directly into college language credit, giving families a head start on tuition savings.

Parkway students earned the Seal in Arabic, Armenian, American Sign Language (ASL), Bengali, Bulgarian, Cebuano, Czech, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Mandarin, Marathi, Pashto, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, Telugu, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese. The district is home to families who speak 108 different languages, according to the district's World Languages page.

That linguistic diversity sets Parkway apart.

Parkway's 182 seals edge past the 170 earned by Rockwood School District students during the same school year. Together, the two districts serving Chesterfield-area families produced at least 352 biliteracy honorees in 2025-26. Statewide, Missouri students earned 1,697 seals during the 2024-25 school year, the most recent figure published by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Parkway's total alone would represent more than 10 percent of that prior statewide count.

Students must be juniors or seniors to apply and must pass a standardized proficiency assessment and submit an essay demonstrating sociocultural competence.
