Rockwood Summit's football team rolled past Marquette 40-14 on Friday, Oct. 23, closing the regular season with a dominant road win at Marquette's Chesterfield campus.

The Falcons set the tone early. Summit led 20-0 after the first quarter, according to a score update posted by Marquette's activities account on X.

The win gives Summit a 5-4 record and the No. 2 seed in the Class 5 District 2 state tournament, according to the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) bracket. Eureka holds the top seed at 7-2. Parkway South and Parkway West round out the top four at 6-3 apiece.

For Marquette, the loss drops the Mustangs to 4-5. The two Rockwood R-VI schools compete in different MSHSAA classifications: Summit plays in Class 5, while Marquette is in Class 6. Friday's game was a regular-season crossover, not a district matchup.

Summit has now beaten Marquette four straight years. The Falcons won 36-0 last season and 59-28 in 2024, according to MSHSAA's matchup history.

Summit’s schedule lists the Class 5 state tournament window as Oct. 30 through Dec. 5. The second-seeded Falcons open district play against No. 7 seed Parkway Central on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m., according to MSHSAA’s bracket.
