Four Rockwood Schools Earn National Character Education Designation
Four Rockwood School District campuses were named 2025 National Schools of Character by Character.org — placing them among just 71 schools nationwide and 13 in Missouri to receive the designation.
Chesterfield Elementary earned the honor for the fourth time, making it the only school in the state with that many designations, according to the district. The school has been part of the Schools of Character process since 2008. Babler Elementary was recognized for the second time, Selvidge Middle School for the third, and Eureka Elementary for the first.
The designation, valid for five years, follows a months-long review that includes a state-level evaluation and an on-site visit by a national evaluator who assesses schools against Character.org's 11 Principles of Effective Character Education.
In all, 22 Rockwood schools and programs have earned the national designation over the program's history.
