Rockwood Approves Boundary Changes at Seven Elementary Schools to Keep New Neighborhoods Together
New subdivisions and apartment developments across Chesterfield, Wildwood, and Eureka will now feed into a single elementary school each, after the Rockwood Board of Education approved four boundary corrections at its March 26 meeting.
New subdivisions and apartment developments across Chesterfield, Wildwood, and Eureka will now feed into a single elementary school each, after the Rockwood Board of Education approved four boundary corrections at its March 26 meeting.
The changes affect seven elementary schools — Wild Horse, Chesterfield, Blevins, Geggie, Stanton, Uthoff Valley, and Eureka — but no currently enrolled students will change schools, according to the district. It was not immediately clear whether that protection extends to families registering kindergartners for the 2026–2027 school year.
Rockwood Chief Financial Officer Cyndee Byous told the board the adjustments are meant to keep entire neighborhoods within one school's attendance zone and feeder pattern rather than splitting them across two.
What Changed, Neighborhood by Neighborhood
Westland Acres (Chesterfield): Nine lots previously zoned for Wild Horse Elementary will move to Chesterfield Elementary, joining the other 41 lots in the subdivision. All 50 homes will now share one school.
Rockwood Meadows (vacant land, 56 planned townhomes): The boundary between Blevins Elementary and Geggie Elementary cut through the proposed development site. The entire future neighborhood will now feed into Blevins.
44 West Apartments (Stanton/Uthoff Valley area): The west side of the complex was built first and zoned for Stanton Elementary. When the east side opened, the property management company told families they would also attend Stanton — even though those units were technically in the Uthoff Valley Elementary zone. The board's vote formalizes what families there are already doing.
Eureka cul-de-sac: A small cul-de-sac in the Eureka area will shift into the Eureka Elementary attendance area. The district website will have exact boundary details once updated maps are recorded.
District Background
Rockwood is the largest school district in St. Louis County, spanning western Chesterfield, all of Wildwood, Ballwin, Ellisville, and Eureka. District enrollment has fallen steadily in recent years — from 20,912 students in 2019–2020 to 18,935 in 2024–2025 — though the boundary corrections are logistical fixes for new development, not enrollment-driven consolidations.
What Families Should Know
Updated boundary maps will be recorded with St. Louis and Jefferson counties and posted on the district's website. Families who want to verify their school assignment can call the Rockwood Transportation Department at 636-733-8500.
