Six Flags St. Louis Now Requires Adult Chaperones for Kids After Opening-Day Fights
Six Flags St. Louis now requires every guest 16 or younger to be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old, a policy that took effect Saturday after fights involving roughly 100 juveniles marred the park's opening day on April 25.
About 100 juveniles were involved in multiple fights that day, according to First Alert 4, citing the Eureka police chief. At least six were taken into custody, and the park closed early. First Alert 4 footage from MoDOT cameras showed patrol lights filling the parking lot.
Six Flags announced the chaperone rule on Facebook on April 29, saying the policy is meant "to help ensure our guests have a fun, safe experience at the park." The rule had been used during the middle of last summer's season but is being activated earlier this year.
What Families Need to Know
Here's how the chaperone policy works:
- Who needs a chaperone: All guests 16 and under, including season pass holders.
- Who qualifies: An adult 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID.
- Limit: One chaperone can accompany up to six kids.
- At the gate: The chaperone must enter with the group and show ID at the ticket entry point.
- Inside the park: The chaperone must stay in the park and be reachable by phone and in person for the entire visit.
- Enforcement: Kids found without a chaperone inside the park face ejection.
- Duration: Not yet announced. Six Flags has not said whether the policy applies all season or only on select weekends.
The park also banned full or partial face coverings, including hoods with front zippers, ski masks, balaclavas, and neck gaiters.
Extra Police Assigned This Weekend
Eureka Mayor Sean Flower said the city assigned six Eureka police officers to park duty this weekend to support the new policies. St. Louis County Police also assigned additional officers, though the exact number has not been confirmed.
The park, located in Eureka just east of Wildwood, opened its 2026 season under new ownership by Enchanted Parks and will rebrand as Mid-America in 2027.
