Eighty-one percent of its students scored at or above the proficient level in math, and 72% reached that mark in reading, according to U.S. News. Both figures topped the Rockwood R-Vi district averages of 60% in math and 54% in reading.
The Rockwood School District said eight of its elementary schools landed in the top 18.5% statewide. Chesterfield and Kehrs Mill ranked in the top 5%, while Babler and Wild Horse also placed within the top 11%.

U.S. News released the rankings Oct. 20, covering nearly 47,000 elementary schools nationwide. The methodology weights four factors equally at 25% each: math proficiency, math performance, reading proficiency and reading performance. Half the formula measures raw test scores. The other half factors in socioeconomic demographics.
Eric Brooks, U.S. News director of education data analysis, said the 2027 edition uses data collected directly from state education agencies by RTI International alongside U.S. Department of Education data.
