Abdulwareth A. Alahmad, 18, of Ellisville faces charges of first-degree assault and property damage motivated by discrimination. Prosecutors allege he lured a man to Bluebird Park through a dating app and attacked him with four other men.

As we reported Oct. 26, an assault at the Ellisville park led to an arrest. First Alert 4 reported details from charging documents that identify the suspect and describe how the attack unfolded.

The victim went to Bluebird Park around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, to meet someone named "Adam" he had been talking to on a dating site, charging documents state. When the victim arrived, Alahmad allegedly told him, "I actually hate gay people," and four men hiding in nearby bushes approached.

The group punched the victim in the head and torso, according to the documents. When he fell, they continued punching and kicking him. The attackers used slurs and demanded his belongings. The victim's iPhone was dropped during the assault and later found smashed at the park.

The victim reached his car and drove to the Ellisville Police Department.
