Shots were fired in the Ballas Parking Garage at West County Center on Saturday, June 13th afternoon, prompting people to run through the mall and at least one store to lock its doors, the Des Peres Department of Public Safety confirmed. No one was injured, but several parked cars were damaged.

Officers responded to the mall around 12:45 p.m. after receiving reports of individuals with firearms. Based on preliminary information, a verbal dispute between two groups of four to six people escalated, police said.

As officers arrived, additional 911 calls reported people running through the mall and exiting the center. At least one store initiated a brief lockdown after someone saw a person run past with a visible firearm.

Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like gunshots in the Ballas Parking Garage. Officers later confirmed shots had been fired. The department said in a Facebook statement that no one was struck but vehicles did sustain damage.

Police are reviewing the mall's video surveillance system and have obtained descriptions of the individuals involved from the footage. No arrests had been announced as of Saturday evening.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Des Peres Department of Public Safety at 314-835-6235.
