Six Flags St. Louis Closes Early on Opening Day After Fights Erupt Among Juveniles
Six Flags St. Louis shut its gates early on the first day of the 2026 season Saturday night after multiple fights broke out among juveniles at the Eureka theme park.
Eureka Police Chief Michael Werges told First Alert 4 that as many as 100 juveniles were involved in or near the disturbances across multiple fights at the park.
"Officers responded quickly and dispersed the crowd," Werges said. Park officials then decided to close early to de-escalate the situation.
About six juveniles were detained, according to Werges, but he said there were no injuries and no damage to the park. It is not yet clear whether any of the detained juveniles will face formal charges.
Six Flags, located off Interstate 44 in Eureka and a popular spring and summer destination for families across the Chesterfield–Wildwood area, has not publicly commented on the early closure.
