A Wildwood police officer shot and wounded an armed man outside a home on Wild Horse Farm Court on Wednesday evening after responding to a domestic disturbance call, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.
The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were hurt.
The West News Magazine reported that the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office filed charges on April 23 in connection with the incident. The specific charges and the name of the person charged were not available.
Officers from the City of Wildwood Precinct arrived at the 18700 block of Wild Horse Farm Court at approximately 7:53 p.m. on April 22 and found the man with what police described as a weapon in the front yard of a residence. The county police department said an altercation occurred between the man and an officer but did not describe what led the officer to fire his gun.
The St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading the investigation — not Wildwood police. The department described the case as active and cautioned that preliminary details could change.
Neither the officer nor the man who was shot has been publicly identified. The officer is 32 years old with 10 years of law enforcement experience.
